During the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya faced a fine due to his team's slow over-rate against Gujarat Titans (GT).


The league's official communication confirmed this penalty, marking it as the second infraction for his team regarding over-rate violations, resulting in a fine of ₹24 lakhs.

According to the IPL's statement, "Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during Match No. 56 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. As it was his team's second offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pandya was fined INR 24 lakhs. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player and the concussion substitute, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser."


Ashish Nehra Fined for Code of Conduct Breach

Gujarat Titans' Head Coach, Ashish Nehra, was also penalized, receiving a fine equivalent to 25 percent of his match fees and accruing one demerit point for violating the IPL Code of Conduct. He acknowledged the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20, which addresses conduct contrary to the spirit of the game, and accepted the Match Referee's ruling.


Match Recap: GT's Thrilling Victory

In the match, GT won the toss and chose to bowl first. A notable partnership of 71 runs between Will Jacks (53 runs off 35 balls, including five fours and three sixes) and Suryakumar Yadav (35 runs off 24 balls, with five fours) helped MI reach 155/8 in their 20 overs.
