Preparations for Muharram in Hailakandi

Hailakandi, June 26: The local administration in Hailakandi is implementing various precautionary steps ahead of the Muharram festivities.

A conference was convened today at the Deputy Commissioner's office to ensure the smooth conduct of the Tazia procession and other related events at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium, organized by the District Sports Association.

During the meeting, led by Deputy Commissioner Nisarg Hivare, officials were urged to adhere to the established rules and guidelines to ensure the Muharram celebrations proceed without incident.

The administration instructed the Muharram committee to assign a sufficient number of volunteers equipped with identification cards. It was emphasized that no inflammatory or controversial slogans should be shouted during the Tazia procession, and sound levels from microphones must not exceed permissible environmental limits.

Hivare encouraged the Muharram committee to enhance volunteer awareness regarding the events and safety measures. Senior Superintendent of Police Amitabha Sinha stressed the importance of maintaining order among Tazia procession participants by using long ropes to prevent unauthorized entry into the procession.

Additionally, he requested that one-third of the roadway remain accessible for traffic during the procession. The meeting saw participation from two MLAs, Sujam Uddin Laskar and Nizam Uddin Choudhury, along with Zilla Parishad members Aftab Uddin Laskar and Dilwar Hussain Barubhuiya, officials from the Muharram committee, and respected elders from the community.
