In a gripping encounter in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), the Guyana Amazon Warriors secured their unbeaten status by defeating the Trinbago Knight Riders by nine runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method. Shimron Hetmyer made headlines by matching the CPL record for the fastest century, scoring an impressive 111 not out off just 43 balls after rain curtailed the match to 16 overs per side.
Hetmyer's Record-Setting Performance
The Knight Riders showcased their prowess as one of the top PowerPlay bowling teams, quickly putting the Warriors in a tough spot. Akeal Hosein and newcomer Lahiru Kumara dismissed Glenn Phillips and Shai Hope, leaving the Warriors at a mere 19 runs.
However, rain interrupted the game, leading to a significant delay with the Warriors at 22 for 2. Once play resumed, the Warriors' batting took a turn for the better, especially for Hetmyer, who was celebrating his 100th CPL match. After settling in, he swiftly reached his half-century.
