Major Drug Trafficking Operation Exposed

The Gurugram police have successfully dismantled an international drug trafficking network that was smuggling opium into the United States via courier services. Authorities announced the arrest of a member from Punjab on Thursday.


According to police reports, this syndicate utilized drones to transport narcotics from Pakistan, cleverly concealing them within food containers before dispatching them overseas. For each parcel sent, the arrested individual received between two to five lakh rupees.


The apprehended suspect, identified as 23-year-old Lakhbir Singh, had a bounty of 5,000 rupees on his head. Investigations revealed suspicious transactions totaling 66 lakh rupees in his bank account over the past year. Lakhbir hails from Tarn Taran.


On May 25, 2023, the Haryana State Narcotics Control Board received a tip-off regarding a suspicious international parcel from a courier company located in Udyog Vihar.


Upon investigation, police discovered two packets of opium, weighing 842 grams, hidden inside jars of chyawanprash. A team from the crime unit apprehended the suspect in Punjab on Tuesday. Officials reported that he was presented in a city court, where he was remanded to three days of police custody.
