Judicial Custody for Hit-and-Run Suspects

Gurugram: A local court in Gurugram has ordered that Kalyan Bainsla, the driver implicated in a hit-and-run incident involving a female motorcyclist on Golf Course Road, along with his cousin, be held in judicial custody for 14 days.

The two suspects are scheduled to appear in court again after this period.

Previously, Bainsla and his cousin Lavneesh were presented before Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC), Nidhi Beniwal, who had initially remanded them to two days of police custody.

The Gurugram Police apprehended Bainsla in Dausa, Rajasthan, while Lavneesh was arrested in Palwal, Haryana, in connection with the incident.

Lavneesh was reportedly in the vehicle with Bainsla during the occurrence.

In response to a complaint from the victim, Sia, and her family, the police have invoked Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to attempted murder, in the FIR.

The case was opened after police took notice of a video that depicted a car colliding with a female biker on Golf Course Road.

Following a thorough investigation and review of CCTV footage, the police decided to include the attempted murder charge, which could lead to a sentence of up to 10 years.

This decision followed Sia's family providing a written statement to Inspector Manoj Kumar, the Station House Officer at Gurugram's Sector-56 police station.

The Gurugram Police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order, emphasizing that they will take stringent measures against those responsible.

In a related appeal, Sia has called for severe penalties for all four individuals in the car, stressing the importance of conveying a strong message about women's safety in society.

In an interview, Sia expressed her hopes for justice, stating, "I have high expectations from the court and believe that all four individuals should be held accountable. They must face severe repercussions; this is essential to deter others from similar actions."
