Gurjar Community Mobilizes for Reservation Rights

In Rajasthan, the Gurjar community is once again rallying for their rights. A significant gathering is taking place today in the village of Pilupura, Bharatpur district, where the community has historically organized major movements over the past two decades. Under the leadership of Vijay Bainsla, president of the Reservation Struggle Committee, discussions are ongoing regarding various demands, including reservation for Gurjars, at the meeting near the Hindon-Bayana State Highway. Although the assembly concluded after listening to the government's draft proposal, the youth expressed their dissatisfaction with the government's decision and insisted on continuing their protest. Members of the Gurjar community have staged demonstrations in Bharatpur, blocking railway tracks in their quest for reservation.

Vijay Bainsla is the son of the late Colonel K.S. Bainsla, a prominent leader who spearheaded the community's movements until his passing four years ago. The Gurjar community has issued an ultimatum to the government, demanding a response by 1 PM on Sunday. A large crowd of Gurjars is gathering in the Pilupura-Karwadi area. National coordinator of the Gurjar Reservation Struggle Committee, Vijay Bainsla stated, "We have received incomplete rights. We must secure them fully. This mahapanchayat has been convened for that purpose." He emphasized that the community will not engage in negotiations.

Bainsla mentioned that a letter outlining their demands has been submitted to the government. The mahapanchayat will await the government's draft response. Any message from the government will be discussed during the assembly. He further stated that they will not approach the government for discussions anymore. The government should send a letter through a competent IAS officer. If a letter is sent, it will be read aloud at the mahapanchayat, and the community will decide on the next steps based on the response.

On the other hand, Jawahar Bedham, the Minister of State for Home in the Bhajanlal government, questioned, "If the government is ready for talks, then why the mahapanchayat?" Due to the Gurjar protests, traffic has been diverted from the Bayana-Hindon State Highway to the Hindon-Kalsada-Bhusawar route for those traveling from Karauli to Bharatpur.
