Gujarat Police Arrest Suspected Spy Linked to Pakistan's ISI

Major Breakthrough in National Security Monitoring

In a significant achievement for national security, Gujarat police have apprehended a suspected spy allegedly working for Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI. The individual has been identified as Mohammad Murtaza Ali. According to officials, he was captured during a raid in the Bhargav Camp area of Jalandhar. Acting on intelligence, a joint team from Gujarat and Jalandhar police conducted a targeted operation in Avatar Nagar, where Ali was taken into custody. Authorities also seized four mobile phones and three SIM cards from his possession. Reports indicate that Ali was residing in a rented accommodation in Gandhi Nagar, Jalandhar, where he was secretly conducting espionage activities.

Details of the Investigation

Preliminary investigations reveal that amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly when access to Indian news websites and television channels was restricted in Pakistan, Ali continued to watch Indian news channels and allegedly provided sensitive information to the ISI. Notably, he utilized a mobile application that he developed himself for this purpose. The app was used to upload updates from Indian news broadcasts, which Ali shared with Pakistani intelligence officials. Investigators have uncovered that he demanded substantial financial compensation from ISI agents in exchange for access to the app and its data. Initial findings suggest that Ali had been consistently supplying critical information related to news coverage and internal developments in India to the ISI over the past few weeks. He has now been transported to Gujarat for further questioning.

Related Arrests in Haryana

Meanwhile, Haryana police have also arrested a suspected spy who allegedly provided sensitive information to individuals in Pakistan. Sources from the police indicated that he was believed to be in contact with an ISI handler based in Pakistan. The suspect, Nouman Ilahi (24), hails from Kairana in Uttar Pradesh and worked as a factory security guard. He is accused of supplying sensitive information to Pakistan. His arrest comes amid heightened alertness in Haryana following recent military confrontations with Pakistan, particularly after the Pahalgam terrorist attack last month.
