Significant Initiative for Ex-Agni Veers
In a major initiative aimed at securing stable job opportunities for former Agni Veers, the Gujarat government has declared a 20% reservation for them in direct recruitment for Class III positions across various departments. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel made this announcement on Sunday via a post on 'X', originally in Gujarati. According to the announcement, ex-Agni Veers will also be exempt from the physical fitness test required in the recruitment processes. The Chief Minister noted that they will receive a relaxation of up to three years in the maximum age limit. Additionally, guidelines have been issued to provide a five-year age relaxation for members of the first batch of Agni Veers.

These benefits will be applicable during recruitment for various uniformed services, including positions such as Armed Police Sub-Inspector, Armed Police Constable, State Reserve Police (SRP) Platoon Commander, and Police Constable. Ex-Agni Veers will also receive exemptions during recruitment in the jail and forest departments. CM Patel stated that this advantage will extend to positions like Jailor Group-2 and Jail Constable under the jail department, as well as Forest Guard Class-3 and Forest Watcher Class-3 categories in the Forest and Environment Department. This initiative is part of the efforts by the central and state governments to create career opportunities for those who have successfully completed their service under the 'Agnipath' scheme. Launched in 2022, the 'Agnipath' scheme recruits youth for a four-year term in various ranks across the three branches of the armed forces.
