Bharmour: On May 31, 2025, the Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) in Bharmour, located in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, hosted a special awareness program in honor of World No-Tobacco Day.
Under the guidance of Principal Aruna Chadak, the initiative aimed to educate students and the local community about the detrimental effects of tobacco consumption.
During her address, the Principal highlighted a notable change in the attitudes of young people, remarking that “today’s youth are much less likely to smoke bidis or cigarettes compared to earlier generations.” She pointed out that while new forms of substance abuse have surfaced, the prevalence of such habits among school children and villagers has significantly decreased. “The use of traditional smoking methods like hookah has almost disappeared,” she added.
To commemorate the occasion, the school organized various competitions, including slogan-writing, poster-making, essay-writing, and declamation, all focused on the theme of tobacco prohibition.
