Groundbreaking AI Cochlear Implant Surgery Performed on Young Girl in Rajasthan
A Remarkable Medical Achievement in Jaipur
In a significant medical breakthrough, a three-year-old girl has successfully received an AI-based cochlear implant at the Government Hospital of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS) in Jaipur. This marks the first instance of such advanced surgery being performed in a state-run hospital, offering new hope for children with hearing impairments.
The girl, named Sanaya, hails from Udaipur and has been suffering from severe congenital hearing loss. Her hearing ability was further compromised after a bout of encephalitis. The ENT department at RUHS conducted a complex surgery lasting approximately three hours on Friday, led by Senior Professor Dr. Mohanish Grover.
According to the medical team, the AI-enabled cochlear implant utilizes advanced technology like NEXA for improved sound processing, enhancing audio quality. Following the surgery, Sanaya's condition remains stable, and she is expected to begin hearing within the next 21 days post-activation, gradually learning to speak as well.
Dr. Mohanish Grover stated, “This is the first advanced cochlear implant procedure conducted in a state-run hospital, opening new avenues for treating children with hearing disabilities.”
This achievement is not only a milestone for Rajasthan but also a significant step in the medical history of the country, as implementing such advanced AI technology at a governmental level is a remarkable feat. It must have been an emotional moment for both the girl's family and the medical team, as technology and medical expertise have provided a young girl with a new lease on life.
A miracle has indeed occurred in Rajasthan! Now, many children like Sanaya can look forward to a brighter future.
