Tragic Findings in Balochistan

In a shocking revelation highlighting the deteriorating human rights situation in Balochistan, five mutilated bodies were discovered across three districts, including one individual who had previously been reported missing, according to local news sources. The bodies were located in Punjgur, Khaliqabad, and Zehri, intensifying concerns over the increasing incidents of murder and disappearances in the region.

In the Parom tehsil of Punjgur, one of the recovered bodies was identified as Abdul Wahab, the son of Muhammad Umar from the Zamaran area of Kech district. Reports indicate that Wahab was allegedly abducted on October 27 by state-backed 'death squads.' It is claimed that he was shot during the abduction, resulting in paralysis of one leg. After being held captive for weeks, his tortured body was found discarded on Thursday.

Additionally, police in Khaliqabad district uncovered three more bodies in a desolate area. Identification documents revealed that the victims were Khuda Bakhsh from Johan, Zahoor Ahmed from Khaliqabad, and Barkat Khan from Kashan, all of whom were cousins from the Lehri tribe.

Authorities have initiated an investigation but have yet to provide any substantial leads regarding the perpetrators. Meanwhile, another body was discovered by the roadside in the football field area of Zehri tehsil in Khuzdar district. Local officials identified the victim as Shahzaib, son of Muhammad Aslam from Sadiqabad, who had been shot dead, as reported by local news outlets.

Human rights organizations and activists argue that the systematic recovery of tortured bodies in remote areas reflects a disturbing pattern of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings allegedly carried out by Pakistan's security agencies and their affiliates. In recent months, numerous victims were individuals previously detained by state forces, raising fears of violence in custody and government repression in the region.
