Graphic Designer Arrested for Theft in Thane District

In Thane district, police apprehended a 26-year-old graphic designer for allegedly stealing jewelry and cash valued at ₹6.8 lakh. An official provided this information on Monday.
The incident occurred during the night of June 24 and 25 at a residence in the Mira Road area. Senior Police Inspector Meghna Burande from the Mira Road police station reported that the resident woman was awakened by the sound of a cat entering her home. Upon checking, she discovered that her bedroom wardrobe had been broken into, and a bag containing 77 grams of gold jewelry and ₹9,000 in cash was missing.
Based on the woman's complaint, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed on June 25 under sections 305 (A) (burglary) and 331 (trespassing) of the Indian Penal Code. A dedicated investigation team from the Mira Road police station promptly commenced their inquiry.
The official stated, 'Thanks to intelligence information and persistent efforts, we managed to arrest the suspect within 24 hours.' According to police, the suspect has been identified as a graphic designer originally from Nepal, who resides in the same locality.
Burande mentioned, 'Based on our interrogation, we recovered 69 grams of stolen jewelry worth ₹5.52 lakh from him. We are now focused on recovering the remaining stolen items and cash.'
The investigation also revealed that the suspect has a criminal history, with two prior FIRs registered against him at the Mira Road police station.
