Governor's Meeting in Silchar
Silchar, Aug 23: On Saturday, Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya convened a review meeting focused on government initiatives with the District Commissioner and departmental heads in Cachar district, located in Silchar.
District Commissioner Mridul Yadav provided an in-depth presentation regarding the execution of various flagship programs from both the Central and State governments within the district.
The Governor also led a security review session with Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta, assessing the current law and order conditions in the area.
Acharya evaluated the progress of ongoing Amrit Sarovar projects, requesting updates from officials about infrastructure developments at these sites, which include the installation of flagpoles, construction of shelters, and seating arrangements.
In his review of the fishery sector, he noted that Cachar possesses significant potential for fish farming.
He inquired about hatchery capabilities and fish seed requirements, stressing the importance of enhancing infrastructure to boost productivity in this sector.
Regarding the TB Mukt Abhiyan, the governor encouraged officials to amplify efforts in promoting the ‘Nikshay Mitra’ initiative and urged all stakeholders to be more proactive in the fight against tuberculosis in the state.
In the health sector, he expressed approval of the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) within the district.
Additionally, he reviewed strategies aimed at reducing school drop-out rates, the operation of single-teacher schools, and other educational programs designed to enhance student retention.
The Governor also urged officials to promote the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) among local students.
Furthermore, he assessed the performance of various departments, including Public Works Department (PWD), Agriculture, Public Health Engineering (PHE), Social Forestry, and Irrigation, among others.
