Government Takes Strong Stance on NEET Re-Exam Integrity Ahead of June 21
Government's Commitment to NEET Re-Exam Security
New Delhi: On Friday, the government issued a stern warning against any attempts to compromise the integrity of the upcoming NEET re-examination, which is set for June 21.
Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan communicated this message during a meeting focused on the preparations for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), which is essential for admission into undergraduate medical programs across the country. He met with Abhishek Singh, the Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Somanathan stressed the importance of a seamless, transparent, and secure examination process, highlighting the need for collaboration among all involved parties.
According to the cabinet secretary, "The central and state governments, along with district administrations, are collaborating closely to ensure the NEET re-examination proceeds without any issues. Anyone attempting to disrupt or tamper with the examination's integrity will face severe legal consequences."
He had previously assessed the arrangements with central government secretaries and relevant agencies on June 1.
On June 4, he convened a meeting with state chief secretaries to evaluate the readiness and progress of the preparations.
These discussions aim to enhance coordination, bolster preparedness, and uphold the integrity of the NEET re-examination process.
Officials noted that the Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed the CRPF and CISF to ensure security during the transportation of examination materials.
The NEET-UG, initially conducted on May 3, was canceled by the NTA on May 12 due to allegations of a paper leak, which is currently under investigation by the CBI, resulting in multiple arrests.
