Monsoon Session Dates Announced

In response to the opposition's request for a special parliamentary session regarding Operation Sindoor, the government has revealed that the monsoon session will take place from July 21 to August 12, 2025. Kiren Rijiju, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, confirmed that the government is prepared to discuss Operation Sindoor in accordance with parliamentary procedures.

Rising Tensions Between Government and Opposition

The upcoming session is expected to witness escalating tensions between the government and opposition parties. While the government aims to advance its economic reforms and legislative agenda, the opposition is strategizing to challenge the government on various issues, including security policies, the Pahalgam terror attack, inflation, and unemployment.

Opposition Alliance Meeting

Political discussions have intensified around Operation Sindoor, with 16 parties from the opposition alliance 'INDIA' convening a joint meeting on Tuesday to amplify pressure on the central government. They have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to call for a special parliamentary session.

The opposition argues that following the remarks made by Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan in Singapore, a detailed discussion on Operation Sindoor in Parliament is essential. A letter reiterating this demand has been sent to the Prime Minister by the opposition parties.

Although the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) did not participate in this meeting, they have reportedly sent a separate letter to the Prime Minister. Previously, Congress, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) had also requested a special session through individual letters. The opposition is now intensifying its efforts to exert collective pressure.

Key leaders from major opposition parties, including Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK, TMC, RJD, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction), National Conference, CPM, CPI, Indian Union Muslim League, RSP, JMM, VCK, Kerala Congress, MDMK, and CPI (ML), participated in this significant meeting held on Tuesday.
