Government Intensifies Measures Against Rising Dengue Threat in Delhi
Heightened Vigilance in Delhi Amid Dengue Concerns
In response to the escalating dengue threat in Delhi, the central government has ramped up its vigilance. Central Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda chaired a high-level review meeting focused on preparations for dengue prevention and control in the capital. Senior officials from the health department, representatives from municipal bodies, and relevant agencies participated in the meeting.
The primary goal of this meeting was to ensure effective measures are in place to curb the spread of mosquito-borne diseases, particularly dengue. Officials provided detailed reports on the current situation, availability of hospital beds, supply of medications, and the progress of fogging operations.
According to sources, JP Nadda instructed officials to enhance ground-level monitoring for dengue control. He emphasized that negligence would not be tolerated under any circumstances and that special teams should be deployed in sensitive areas.
The meeting also highlighted the likelihood of a surge in dengue cases following the rainy season, making it crucial to implement preventive measures promptly. The Delhi Municipal Corporation and the health department have been directed to conduct joint campaigns.
Officials reported that hospitals are on high alert, ensuring immediate testing and treatment for suspected patients. Additionally, there is a strong emphasis on increasing awareness campaigns to prevent water accumulation in homes and surroundings.
Regular monitoring of fogging, anti-larval spraying, and cleanliness drives was also stressed during the meeting. Officials indicated that technical teams have been assigned to maintain continuous surveillance in vulnerable areas.
JP Nadda reiterated that health security is a top priority for the government, warning that any lapse could lead to serious consequences. He instructed all agencies to collaborate effectively and ensure timely reporting.
Currently, the situation regarding dengue in Delhi is under constant observation, with the administration fully alert.
