Fuel Supply Remains Stable Across the Nation

The government has confirmed that the supply of petrol, diesel, LPG, and natural gas remains stable throughout the country. During an inter-ministerial briefing in New Delhi regarding recent developments in West Asia, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, stated that there have been no reports of petrol shortages at any LPG distributor centers. She emphasized that all petrol stations are operating normally, with sufficient availability of petrol and diesel, and no reports of shortages have been received.

LPG Delivery and Sales on the Rise

Sujata Sharma also mentioned that the delivery of LPG cylinders is proceeding smoothly, with online bookings for LPG increasing by nearly 96%. She noted that the total commercial LPG allocation has been raised to approximately 70% of pre-crisis levels. To boost the sale of 5 kg cylinders, the government has issued a new directive to double their availability. The average daily sale of 5 kg cylinders, which was around 77,000 in February, has now surged to nearly 100,000 per day. Furthermore, since March 23, approximately 780,000 free trade LPG cylinders of 5 kg have been sold.

Safety of Indian Sailors in West Asia

Mukesh Mangal, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, assured that all Indian sailors in the West Asia region are safe, with no incidents reported involving Indian-flagged vessels in the past 24 hours. He informed that there are currently 16 Indian-flagged ships with 433 Indian sailors in the western Persian Gulf area. Mangal added that the Directorate General of Shipping is continuously monitoring the situation in coordination with ship owners, RPSL agencies, and Indian embassies.
