Diphu, June 29: A prominent delegation from the Assam Government conducted a comprehensive site evaluation on Friday at the chosen location for the forthcoming Sainik School in Langvoku, Karbi Anglong. This initiative is part of a larger strategy aimed at enhancing educational standards and instilling discipline among the youth in the area.


Leading the delegation was Lt Gen (Retd) Rana Pratap Kalita, who holds the position of Chairman on the Advisory Committee overseeing the establishment of the school. He was joined by notable military figures such as Major Gen (Retd) Bhaskar Kalita, Brigadier SM (Retd) Ranjit Borthakur, and Brigadier (Retd) Palash Choudhury, whose vast experience is expected to steer the project towards success.


Alongside the military representatives, senior officials from the State government and the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) were present during the site inspection.


Included in the delegation were Pranjal Choudhury, Joint Secretary from the Education Department, and the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD). The team also consisted of engineers, architects, and officials from the State Land and Revenue department.


During their visit, the delegation meticulously reviewed the site plan created by the Chief Engineer’s office and conducted a physical assessment of the 133-acre land allocated by KAAC for the school’s infrastructure.


The evaluation took into account the surrounding environment, as well as the accessibility and proximity to vital services such as highways, airports, railways, and hospitals, which are essential for the school’s future operations and the welfare of its students.


The proposed Sainik School has received formal approval under Clause 5.1 (Annex-II) of the MoS 2021 and has been sanctioned by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. This educational initiative signifies a substantial investment in the region's educational landscape and aims to cultivate a disciplined atmosphere for aspiring students.


The conclusion of this site visit marks a significant milestone in the establishment of the Sainik School in Karbi Anglong, underscoring a strong dedication to improving educational prospects and contributing to the social and cultural growth of the region.
