Government Confirms No LPG Shortage Amid High Demand
No LPG Shortage in the Country
Sujata Sharma from the Petroleum Ministry has clarified that there is no shortage of LPG in the nation. Approximately 95% of domestic gas cylinder deliveries are being authenticated through codes, ensuring transparency and accurate distribution. Over the past two days, more than 8.7 million LPG cylinders have been successfully delivered.
Strong Sales of Commercial and Auto LPG
According to the ministry, 15,900 tons of commercial LPG sales were recorded in the last 48 hours. Additionally, 876 tons of auto LPG were supplied through PMC. Around 120,000 cylinders of 5 kg each were sold to small consumers, reflecting a balance between demand and supply.
Increase in PNG Connections, Decrease in LPG Dependence
The expansion of piped natural gas in urban areas is progressing rapidly. Recently, 631,000 connections have been gasified, and infrastructure is ready for 267,000 new connections. Approximately 693,000 consumers have registered for PNG, while 49,000 have returned their LPG connections.
Normal Situation at Retail Outlets, Some Panic Booking
The situation at petrol and diesel retail outlets across the country remains normal, with no supply disruptions reported. However, in some areas, panic booking is occurring, creating temporary pressure.
Strict Actions: Raids and Penalties
The ministry has intensified enforcement of regulations. Recently, raids were conducted at 2,100 locations, and 3,139 show-cause notices have been issued. Fines have been imposed on 366 distributors, and 75 have been suspended.
Refinery Operations Normal, Shutdown Procedures Regular
Crude refineries are operating normally, with sufficient stock available. The Nayara refinery is currently undergoing maintenance shutdown, expected to resume operations by mid-month. Following this, the Reliance refinery will begin its shutdown. The ministry has assured that this is a routine process and will not affect supply.
Normal Conditions in Port and Shipping Sector
According to Omesh Kumar Sharma from the Port and Shipping Ministry, there have been no incidents involving Indian sailors in the past 48 hours. There are no traffic jams at any ports, and all operations are running smoothly. Overall, the government has made it clear that fuel supply is completely normal, urging people to avoid unnecessary panic.
