Government and CJP Engage in Ongoing Negotiations
The central government and the Cockroach People's Party (CJP) are set for their third round of discussions on Saturday. Following several days of dialogue and communication, the government's stance on the protests regarding the NEET paper leak has reached a pivotal point. This latest meeting comes as the government has agreed to two of CJP's three primary demands, while requesting additional time to address the controversial resignation demand of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
After the second round of talks on Friday, CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka stated that the government has asked for time until Saturday afternoon to respond to this demand. Union Minister JP Nadda also confirmed that another meeting is scheduled, indicating that the central government will clarify its position following further discussions. Notably, during the second round of talks on Friday, the government's approach softened, agreeing to hold discussions at the Constitution Club instead of a minister's residence and accepting two of CJP's demands.
These demands include not filing any FIRs against those who peacefully participated in the 'Chalo Parliament' march on July 20 and providing compensation of 1 crore rupees to the families of students who committed suicide due to the examination controversy. However, CJP has insisted that the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan is non-negotiable and has also called for a public apology regarding the alleged police actions against protesters.
