Google's Direct Sales Initiative in India

On Thursday, Google commenced direct sales of its Pixel devices through its official online store in India. This marks the first time consumers can purchase smartphones, smartwatches, earbuds, and other products directly from the company.

According to a company statement, this move will enhance Google's existing online and offline retail presence.

Mitul Shah, the Managing Director of Devices and Services at Google India, explained that the primary reason for launching direct online sales in India is the "dynamic and evolving" smartphone market in the country.

He stated, "Initiating direct online purchases from the Google Store in India further strengthens our already robust retail presence... both online and in physical stores, as well as with our partners. The goal is to provide options... We will continue to invest across all fronts, focusing on increasing retail availability, enhancing customer support, and ensuring attractive affordable options."

However, Shah did not disclose when Google plans to open its own physical stores in India. He added, "India remains a strategically important market for Pixel. We are working at full capacity with a focused strategy to empower Indians with AI-driven devices."
