Significant Rise in Precious Metal Prices

In New Delhi, after facing a prolonged decline, gold and silver prices experienced a remarkable increase on Wednesday. Factors such as the results of the US midterm elections, a weakening dollar, a drop in US bond yields, and global geopolitical uncertainties have redirected investors towards safer investment options. This shift has led to a surge in the purchase of precious metals in both domestic and international markets. The Indian futures market saw a significant uptick in the prices of both gold and silver within a short span.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for December delivery rose by 2.21%, equating to an increase of ₹3,088, reaching a peak of ₹1,42,540 per 10 grams. In contrast, silver for December delivery saw an even greater jump, climbing 3.84% or ₹6,902 to reach ₹1,86,600 per kilogram. As of the time of writing, gold was trading at over a 2% increase at ₹1,42,300 per 10 grams, while December futures for silver were up 3.71% at ₹1,86,373 per kilogram.

Market Shift Driven by US Election Results

The recent surge in the market is largely attributed to the outcomes of the US midterm elections. Following a lackluster performance by President Donald Trump's party, investors adjusted their strategies, gravitating towards safer assets. With the Democratic Party gaining ground in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, discussions about new possibilities in US political and economic policies have commenced.

Market analysts noted that the election results led to a depreciation of the US dollar and a softening of US government bond yields. These conditions directly benefited precious metals like gold. Typically, when the dollar weakens and bond yields decrease, gold becomes a more attractive investment option, as it does not yield interest but is viewed as a safe haven during uncertain economic and political times.

Global Financial Market Changes Impact Prices

The rise in gold and silver prices is also significantly influenced by changes in the global financial markets. A weaker dollar makes gold purchases easier for investors using other currencies in the international market. Additionally, a decline in US bond yields has shifted investor interest towards assets perceived as safer for capital preservation during economic uncertainty.

Moreover, a recent drop in crude oil prices has positively affected market sentiment. The decrease in oil prices has alleviated some inflation concerns, leading investors to anticipate that major central banks worldwide may adopt a more flexible approach regarding interest rates and monetary policies in the near future. Such an economic environment tends to bolster demand for gold.

International Market Sees Increased Demand

Alongside the Indian market, the international commodity market has also witnessed a strong rise in precious metal prices. On COMEX, gold traded at $4,031.90 per ounce, reflecting a 2.32% increase. Silver prices surged by 4.10%, reaching $51.795 per ounce.

The uptick in international gold and silver prices has had a noticeable impact on the Indian market. The increase in global demand for precious metals and the weakening dollar have encouraged buying in the domestic futures market. Current market activities indicate that investors are seeking safe investment options amid economic and political uncertainties.

Geopolitical Factors Influence Market Trends

Global geopolitical conditions are also affecting gold and silver prices. Following Russia's agreement to engage in trilateral peace talks with Ukraine and the US, diplomatic activities on an international level are expected to intensify. Conversely, uncertainty remains regarding negotiations between Iran and the US.

These developments have kept caution prevalent in global markets. Typically, during times of war, political tension, or diplomatic uncertainty, investors prefer to withdraw from stock markets and other high-risk investments, opting instead for safe assets like gold. This trend is currently supporting the demand for gold.

Key Price Levels for Gold and Silver

Technical analysis suggests that the first significant resistance level for gold prices on MCX is around ₹1,41,000. Following that, the next major resistance zone is considered to be between ₹1,43,000 and ₹1,43,700. Should prices continue to rise, market attention will remain on these levels.

In the event of a decline, the ₹1,40,000 mark serves as immediate support for gold, with the next support zone identified between ₹1,37,500 and ₹1,38,300. Based on technical levels, fluctuations in gold prices are anticipated in the upcoming trading sessions.

Despite the strong recovery in prices, technical indicators have not yet reached a fully robust state. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) remains around 35, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) histogram is still in negative territory, indicating ongoing weakness. According to technical analysis, these indicators do not currently confirm a strong improvement in price trends, necessitating that investors keep a close watch on market movements.

Silver's Important Price Levels

Following the sharp rise in silver prices, the market is now focused on its next significant levels. Technical analysis indicates that the immediate resistance zone for silver on MCX is between ₹1,86,000 and ₹1,88,000. If silver manages to sustain above this level, it may advance towards the next resistance zone between ₹1,94,000 and ₹1,96,000.

Conversely, in the event of a downturn, the ₹1,78,000 to ₹1,80,000 range could serve as immediate support for silver, with the next significant support zone identified between ₹1,70,000 and ₹1,72,000. Market experts suggest that these levels may provide crucial signals regarding the direction of silver prices.

Federal Reserve's Policy to Influence Future Trends

In the coming days, the direction of gold and silver prices will be significantly influenced by the US Federal Reserve's interest rate policy. Additionally, changes in the dollar index and global political events will also impact the precious metals market. If the dollar remains weak and US bond yields continue to decline, gold may receive ongoing support.

However, given the weakness in technical indicators and potential fluctuations in global markets, price volatility cannot be ruled out. The circumstances created following the US election results have strengthened both gold and silver. Investors will be closely monitoring the stance of the US central bank, the dollar's movements, and international political developments in the upcoming trading sessions.
