Goa's Tourism Minister Announces New Immigration Program for Travelers

Introduction of the Fast-Track Immigration Program

Panaji, August 5 - Rohan Khaunte, the Tourism Minister of Goa, announced on Wednesday that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved the implementation of the 'Fast-Track Immigration - Trusted Traveler Program' (FTI-TTP) in the state. This initiative will provide seamless immigration facilities at airports through automated e-gates.

Details of the Meeting

Khaunte revealed that the approval came after a meeting held in New Delhi on Tuesday with Amit Shah and Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The discussions focused on tourism connectivity, infrastructure, and policy reforms.

Benefits of the New Program

Under the FTI-TTP, registered travelers at several airports across the country will be able to complete immigration formalities in less than 30 seconds using biometric-based e-gates. This will significantly reduce waiting times and eliminate the need for manual processing.

The minister emphasized that this facility will enhance the travel experience for Indian travelers, particularly for Goans living abroad, sailors, students, and professionals. He noted that Goa will emerge as a preferred entry and exit point for travelers. Khaunte stated, “The implementation of FTI-TTP in Goa is a significant step towards facilitating travel.”
