On Saturday, December 20, voting will take place across all 50 seats in Goa for the district panchayat elections. According to the Election Commission of India, approximately 8.68 million voters are eligible to cast their votes in this significant local body election. With the model code of conduct in effect across all district panchayat areas, officials have implemented strict guidelines to ensure that the voting process is free, fair, and peaceful. Voting will be conducted via ballot papers, and the counting of votes is scheduled for December 22.

Guidelines for Voting Day: What is Allowed and What is Not
To maintain law and order, district magistrates of North Goa and South Goa have issued prohibitory orders ahead of the voting day.
All restaurants, bars, tea shops, pan shops, dhabas, and other food establishments located within a 100-meter radius of polling stations will remain closed from 6 AM to 9 PM on voting day.
Similar restrictions will be in place at counting centers on December 22, from 6 AM until the counting is completed.
Gatherings of more than five individuals within a 200-meter radius of polling stations are prohibited.
Election officials, magistrates, police personnel, and government employees on election duty are exempt from these restrictions.
These orders do not apply to genuine wedding processions, funeral ceremonies, or religious processions and events.
Violations of these orders will result in punitive action under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code and other applicable legal provisions.
