Global Outage Hits ChatGPT: Users Left Frustrated and Offline

Major Outage Affects ChatGPT Users Worldwide
New Delhi: On Tuesday, OpenAI's ChatGPT faced a significant outage, impacting users globally, particularly in India and the United States, where the disruptions were most pronounced.
Real-time monitoring service Downdetector reported a sharp increase in outage complaints around 3:00 PM, with approximately 800 reports coming from India alone.
The majority of complaints, around 88%, indicated that users were unable to get responses from the chatbot, while 8% experienced issues with the mobile application, and 3% reported problems related to the API.
Many users trying to access ChatGPT encountered persistent error messages, including "Hmm…something seems to have gone wrong" and "A network error occurred. Please check your connection and try again."
The outage sparked a wave of activity on social media, where users expressed their frustrations, shared memes, and discussed their increasing dependence on AI technologies for everyday tasks.
OpenAI confirmed the outage on its system status page, noting that both ChatGPT and its text-to-video service, Sora, were impacted.
"Some users are experiencing elevated error rates and latency across the listed services. We are continuing to investigate this issue," OpenAI stated.
However, no specific timeline for resolving the outage was provided.
