Ghaziabad: Authorities in Ghaziabad have detained a man accused of repeatedly slapping a woman who was feeding stray dogs in a residential neighborhood, as reported by officials on Saturday.


The altercation occurred late Friday night within the jurisdiction of the Vijay Nagar police station.

In a widely circulated video, the woman can be heard instructing someone to record the incident, while the man provocatively responds, encouraging the recording.


As the confrontation escalates, the woman exclaims, "You are hitting me," to which the man retorts, "Who hit first?"


According to ACP Ritesh Tripathi, a video surfaced on social media showing the man behaving aggressively towards the woman, prompting authorities to file a case against him.


The woman has been identified as Yashika Shukla, while the man is Kamal Kishore Khanna, as confirmed by the officer.


Vijay Nagar SHO Shashi Chaudhary stated, "The incident occurred on Friday night. The accused, Kamal Kishore Khanna, has been apprehended and charged under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the BNS."


However, police sources indicated that the woman may have initiated the physical confrontation.


Some news reports claimed that the woman was slapped eight times within a span of 38 seconds, although police did not confirm the exact number of slaps.


This incident surfaced just a day after the Supreme Court instructed municipal authorities in the Delhi-NCR region to establish designated areas for feeding stray dogs, clarifying that feeding on public streets is prohibited.
