Gautam Gambhir Returns to Team India

Due to a family emergency, Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, is expected to rejoin the squad on Tuesday. He will link up with the team on June 17, ahead of the five-match Test series against England starting on June 20 in Leeds.

Gambhir's mother was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack, but a source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reported that her condition is improving. After departing from here tomorrow, Gambhir will meet up with the team.

The former opener did not participate in the intra-squad match held at a closed stadium between India and India A in Beckenham. During his absence, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, and bowling coach Morne Morkel oversaw the team's preparations for the upcoming series.

Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, the Indian Test team is aiming for its first series victory in England since 2007. The first match of the five-Test series is scheduled to take place in Leeds from June 20 to June 24.
