Gautam Gambhir's Return to Team India

Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of Team India, has made his way back to the squad in England following a family emergency concerning his mother's health. He had to return to India on June 12 after his mother suffered a heart attack on June 11. At that time, Gambhir was by her side as she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital in Delhi. He was anticipated to rejoin the team just before the first Test match against England, scheduled to commence on June 20, with his mother's recovery influencing his travel plans.

Before his departure, Gambhir had been with the Indian cricket team in England since June 6, where they were engaged in training sessions in Beckenham ahead of the five-match Test series. The team, captained by Shubman Gill, has been actively preparing, including an intrasquad match that began on June 13. After this four-day game, they will head to Leeds for the opening match of the series at Headingley.
