Gangster's Associate Injured and Arrested in Punjab Encounter
Encounter in Patiala Leads to Arrest
On Thursday, an encounter in Patiala, Punjab, resulted in the injury and subsequent arrest of an associate of gangster Lucky Patial. Authorities confirmed the incident, identifying the suspect as Manpreet, also known as Manna, from Moga district.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varun Sharma, Manpreet sustained a gunshot wound during the encounter and has been admitted to Government Rajindra Hospital for treatment. The police action was based on specific intelligence regarding the activities of members of the Lucky Patial gang.
Sharma reported that police officers pursued two suspicious individuals riding a motorcycle on Dakala Road. During the chase, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police team.
In response, the police returned fire in self-defense, resulting in Manpreet being injured. His accomplice managed to escape on the motorcycle, but Manpreet was taken into custody. Preliminary investigations revealed that both suspects were involved in recent shooting incidents targeting a dhaba owner in Rajpura and a Non-Resident Indian's residence in Samana. Police teams are currently conducting raids to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
