Chaibasa (Jharkhand), Nov 3: A disturbing case involving the gang rape and sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand has emerged, four months after the incident occurred. The girl revealed her traumatic experience to her family after her health significantly declined, as reported by local authorities on Tuesday.

The alleged assault took place in June near the Chiria Outpost area. Following a complaint lodged by the girl's family on Monday, law enforcement officials filed a First Information Report (FIR) against five individuals under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other applicable laws.

According to the family's complaint, the girl was near a river close to her home when she was approached by four young men who forcibly took her to a secluded area and assaulted her.

The perpetrators allegedly threatened her life if she spoke about the incident, instilling fear that prevented her from informing her family at the time.

Weeks later, it is claimed that a friend of the initial assailants also sexually abused the girl.

Due to ongoing threats from the accused, the victim remained silent and struggled to confide in her family about the assaults.

Recently, her health worsened, prompting family members to inquire about her condition. It was during this time that she disclosed the sexual assaults.

In response to her revelation, the family, along with local villagers, reported the matter to the Chiria police outpost on Monday.

David A. Dodray, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Manoharpur, confirmed that a case of gang rape involving a minor has been registered, and the victim is currently undergoing a medical examination.

“Further actions will be determined based on the medical examination results,” he stated.

The officer also mentioned that specialized police teams have been formed to apprehend the five accused, with raids being conducted at various locations to locate them.

Authorities indicated that the investigation is ongoing.
