Gang Arrested for Robbery in Maharashtra Under MCOCA

Robbery Incident in Beed District
In Beed district, Maharashtra, four members of a gang have been charged under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for attacking two security guards and stealing valuables worth ₹12.87 lakh. The police disclosed this information on Friday.
Statements made under MCOCA are admissible in court, making it challenging for defendants to secure bail under this law.
According to a police official, the robbery occurred on April 7 in Vida village, located in the Kej tehsil, approximately 390 kilometers from Mumbai, at a unit of the Awada group.
The official reported that a group of 14 individuals assaulted the guards, Akash Jadhav (26) and Abhijit Dungav, binding them with sheets and beating them before making off with the valuables.
The police have identified that this gang is linked to at least 11 cases involving robbery, theft, and serious crimes.
Beed's Superintendent of Police, Navneet Kanwat, proposed the application of MCOCA against the accused. This proposal was approved on Friday by Virendra Mishra, the Inspector General of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar range.
The official also mentioned that six other suspects are currently wanted in connection with this case.
