In a significant development in the fight against drug trafficking, authorities in Gaggal apprehended two young men found in possession of 5.97 grams of chitta (heroin) during a routine vehicle inspection.


According to Station House Officer Udham Singh Rajput, the police were conducting checks on June 25, 2026, near the Shani Dev Temple in Kuthman. When a motorcycle registered in Punjab (PB06‑BJ6542) was ordered to stop, the rider attempted to evade the police but was quickly intercepted.


Upon searching the individuals, identified as Harpal Singh, son of Atma Singh, and Jaspal Singh, both hailing from Village Chaura Wajwa in Tehsil Dera Baba Nanak, District Gurdaspur, Punjab, the officers discovered the heroin.


A case has been filed against the suspects under FIR No. 63/26 dated 25/06/26, invoking Sections 21, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act at the Gaggal Police Station. The investigation is ongoing, and SHO Rajput emphasized that the police's efforts to combat narcotics will persist vigorously.
