Crackdown on Job Fraud in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: On Wednesday, authorities apprehended five individuals in connection with a scheme involving the submission of counterfeit documents to obtain Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) positions in Bolangir district, Odisha, as reported by officials.


The arrests were executed by the Crime Branch following a complaint from Rajendra Kumar Pattnaik, the superintendent of post offices for the Bolangir division. He alleged that 38 applicants had presented fraudulent educational certificates to secure their GDS roles.


The investigation was initiated by the Crime Branch after discovering that a network was providing these fake certificates to job seekers.


Previously, 18 individuals, including the primary suspect Abhijeet Kumar Bhakat, had been detained in this case. With the latest arrests, the total number of apprehended individuals has reached 23, according to the official.


The five newly arrested suspects are residents of Bolangir and Sonepur districts.
