Significant Encounter in Hazaribag

Hazaribag: In a recent operation, security forces engaged in a gunfight with Maoists in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district, resulting in the deaths of four insurgents, according to police reports.

The confrontation occurred in the Batuka forest area, near the Keredari police station, following intelligence inputs. Among the deceased was Sahdeo Mahto, who had a significant bounty of Rs 15 lakh on his head.

Pawan Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Barkagaon, confirmed, "Four Maoists have been killed during the encounter, and fortunately, no security personnel sustained injuries during the operation."

This incident follows a previous intense firefight on April 15, where a Maoist group led by Misir Besra, who has a bounty of Rs 1 crore, clashed with police in West Singhbhum, resulting in injuries to four officers.

The central government has recently communicated to state authorities that there are currently no districts in India affected by Naxal violence, marking over fifty years since the emergence of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in the country.

This announcement came after a comprehensive security review conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) earlier this month, in line with the 'National Policy and Action Plan to Address Left Wing Extremism (LWE)' established in 2015.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also stated in Parliament on March 30 that India is now free from Maoist influence.
