Terrorism Investigation in Azamgarh

Azamgarh has once again emerged in connection with a terrorist conspiracy. The Special Cell of the Delhi Police apprehended four extremists from various locations who were allegedly plotting a significant attack against the nation. These individuals were captured in Bihar, Bhubaneswar, and Mumbai. Among those arrested is Mosab Ahmed, also known as Sonu, who hails from Azamgarh. The other suspects include Mohammad Hamad, Sheikh Imran, and Mohammad Sohail, each from different cities.


Background of Mosab Ahmed

Mosab Ahmed is originally from the Sikandar Pur Aima Sardaha village in the Maharajganj area of Azamgarh district. His family left the village for another location around 15 to 20 years ago and has not returned for quite some time. Mosab's father resides in Saudi Arabia, while his mother, Jaitunnisha, currently lives in a rented house owned by a woman named Khalida Bano in the Nasirpur area of the Bilariyaganj police station.


Family Insights

According to Jaitunnisha, Mosab returned home about a year and a half ago and has been living away since then. She expressed her unawareness regarding his involvement in any terrorist activities. Additionally, Abu Talib, the village head of Nasirpur, mentioned that Mosab has been living there for the past 10 to 15 years, but the community is unaware of any suspicious activities associated with him.


Details of the Arrest

The Delhi Police reported that the four extremists were arrested from Maharashtra, Odisha, and Bihar. They believed in the emergence of a group with black flags from Khorasan, which aimed to establish an Islamic State in the Indian subcontinent and beyond. They were preparing to join this group and participate in Gazwa-e-Hind. Notably, one of the suspects was found in possession of materials for making an IED.
