Arrests Made in Disturbing Case of Abuse

In a troubling incident from Latur district in Maharashtra, authorities have apprehended four individuals following allegations of repeated sexual assault and forced abortion involving a girl infected with HIV. A police official provided this information.

According to the officer, the girl filed her complaint at the Dhokhi police station in her home district of Dharashiv, detailing that the abuses occurred at an HIV-infected children's shelter in Hasegaon between July 13 and July 23 of this year.

The complaint states that the girl had been residing at the facility for the past two years. Allegedly, a staff member at the shelter assaulted her four times and threatened her against disclosing the incidents.

The management of the institution failed to assist her, even tearing up a letter she had written to authorities and placed in the complaint box.

The officer noted that when the girl fell ill, she was taken to a hospital, where it was discovered that she was four months pregnant. Subsequently, the accused arranged for an abortion without her consent through a physician.

The Dhokhi police have registered a case against six individuals, including the founder and supervisor of the institution, the staff member accused of the assaults, and the doctor who performed the abortion.

Latur's Superintendent of Police, Amol Tambe, confirmed that after the case was transferred to the Ausa police station, four suspects were arrested. The alleged incidents occurred within the jurisdiction of the Ausa police station.
