Arrests Made in Indore Businessman's Murder Case

On Monday, Meghalaya Police announced the arrest of four individuals linked to the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi. Among those apprehended is 21-year-old Raj Singh Kushwaha.

Vivek Syiem, the Superintendent of Police for East Khasi Hills, stated that Kushwaha was in the company of Sonam Raghuvanshi, Raja's wife.

The couple, who had recently married, went missing on May 23 while on their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja's body was discovered in a gorge on June 2, while the search for Sonam continued.

Sonam was located at Kashi Dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway during the night of June 8-9. Meghalaya's Director General of Police, Idashisha Nongrang, confirmed that three additional suspects were arrested in connection with the couple's disappearance.

Nongrang reported that one suspect was detained in Uttar Pradesh, while two others were arrested in Madhya Pradesh. Sonam herself surrendered in Uttar Pradesh.

The arrested individuals include 19-year-old Akash Rajput from Lalitpur, 22-year-old Vishal Singh Chauhan from Indore, and Raj Singh Kushwaha from Indore. Another suspect was apprehended in the Sagar district, and one person is being held at the Nandgarh police station.

Syiem noted that a thorough investigation would clarify the motives and circumstances surrounding the crime, emphasizing that Kushwaha was with Sonam during the incident.

Background on Raj Kushwaha

Raj Kushwaha's name surfaced in the investigation on Monday. Vipul Raghuvanshi, Raja's brother, suggested that Kushwaha was employed by Sonam, implying her potential involvement in the murder.

Sonam's father, who operates a business selling Sunmica sheets, mentioned that a person named Raj is associated with their business. He claimed to know only one Raj who worked with him but denied knowing Raj Kushwaha, labeling the allegations against his daughter as false and suggesting police complicity.
