Four Arrested for Vandalizing Christmas Decorations in Assam School

In Nalbari district of Assam, four individuals associated with the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal were apprehended on Thursday for allegedly vandalizing decorations intended for a Christmas celebration at a local school. The police confirmed the arrests.
The incident took place on Wednesday when the suspects reportedly entered St. Mary School, located in the village of Panigaon within the Belsor police jurisdiction, and destroyed various decorative items meant for the festive occasion.
Details of the Vandalism
A senior police official stated, "The individuals responsible for the vandalism at the school have been arrested. They unlawfully entered the premises." The suspects are accused of damaging external decorations, lights, pots, and other items, with some being set on fire.
The officer added, "A case has been registered at the Belsor police station. The investigation is ongoing, and we are working to identify additional individuals involved in the incident."
Identities of the Arrested
The arrested individuals have been identified as Bhaskar Deka, the VHP's Nalbari district secretary; Manas Jyoti Patgiri, the district vice president; Biju Dutta, the assistant secretary; and Nayan Talukdar, the district coordinator of Bajrang Dal.
