Four Accused Released on Bail in Delhi Riots Conspiracy Case
Release of Accused in Delhi Riots Case
A court in the national capital has ordered the release of four individuals involved in the conspiracy related to the riots that occurred in North-East Delhi in 2020. This decision came after the Supreme Court granted them bail.
Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai issued the release order after the accused—Gulfisha Fatima, Meeran Haider, Shifa Ur Rehman, and Mohammad Saleem Khan—submitted bail bonds of two lakh rupees each along with sureties.
Among the five accused who received bail from the Supreme Court on Monday, one, Shadab Ahmed, failed to appear in court to submit his bail bond.
According to prison officials, Gulfisha Fatima, Shifa Ur Rehman, and Meeran Haider were released from Tihar Jail on Wednesday night, while Mohammad Saleem Khan was freed from Mandoli Jail.
Earlier, on Tuesday, the court had instructed the Delhi Police to verify the documents and sureties submitted by the accused, which resulted in a one-day delay in their release.
Meanwhile, another accused has filed a new bail application in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai, claiming he faces similar charges as Mohammad Saleem Khan.
The bail plea was submitted by Saleem Malik, also known as Munna, who was one of the 11 alleged organizers and speakers of the anti-CAA/NRC meeting, against whom the court has framed charges of criminal conspiracy.
