In a statement to reporters after stepping down, Roy expressed that the intoxication of power had led the leadership to believe they were untouchable. He accused ministers, local leaders, and mayors who have been in power for the last fifteen years of losing touch with reality, while grassroots party workers have been sidelined. He lamented that dedicated party members, who fought against the Left Front for years, have been replaced by corrupt individuals and criminals. This situation is now being exposed and broadcasted on television. He pointed out that the wealth amassed by local leaders is evident, with lavish homes featuring swimming pools and exotic birds, indicating the plundering of millions.

Identifying himself as an ordinary citizen, Roy called for a forensic audit of purchases made by hospitals over the past five years. He stated, 'I can demand that the new government investigate all hospital purchases in Bengal over the last five years... a forensic audit is necessary... The incidents of rape and murder in our country have been relentless, and nothing is more heinous than this.' He highlighted the public's reaction to the RG Kar incident, noting that it sparked protests from people who had never participated in demonstrations before, including doctors who remained on the streets all night.
Roy criticized the party leadership for ignoring the crisis, stating that during that time, there was no discussion or consideration from leaders and administrators. He emphasized that the intoxication of power had blinded them to the reality that those who elevated them to their positions are now the ones bringing them down. He insisted that there should be an investigation into the assets of all leaders, including ministers and local officials.
Additionally, Ritabrata Banerjee, an opposition MP and expelled TMC leader, expressed disappointment over the sidelining of a prominent MP like Sukhendu Roy.
