Former Railway Worker Arrested for Bow and Arrow Attack on CBI Officer in Lucknow

Incident Overview
Authorities have detained a former railway gangman following allegations of shooting an assistant sub-inspector of the CBI with a bow and arrow outside the agency's offices in Lucknow. The victim, Virendra Singh, aged 55, reportedly sustained a chest injury during the incident that occurred on Friday, as confirmed by police officials.
Vikram Singh, an officer at the Hazratganj police station, stated that Dinesh Murmu, a 65-year-old resident of Munger in Bihar, attacked ASI Singh with the weapon near the CBI headquarters located on Naval Kishore Marg. Medical personnel are currently treating Singh for an injury that penetrated approximately five centimeters deep, according to the station house officer.
The police have charged Dinesh Murmu with attempted murder and he has been taken into custody. Following the completion of legal procedures, he will be transferred to jail the same day. According to SHO Singh, Murmu was previously employed as a railway gangman and was dismissed after ASI Singh investigated a corruption case involving him back in 1993.
Further reports indicate that in 2005, Murmu assaulted a police officer in Delhi, leading to his imprisonment. He was also arrested in 2015 after an altercation with a GRP jawan at Jaunpur railway station, resulting in a three-and-a-half-year jail sentence. The role of a railway gangman involves ensuring the safety and maintenance of railway tracks.
