Deve Gowda's Call for Calm Over LPG Shortages

Former Prime Minister and Rajya Sabha member Deve Gowda urged citizens not to panic regarding reports of LPG shortages, emphasizing that energy supply is being affected by global tensions, but the government is monitoring the situation closely. His remarks came in response to escalating political discussions surrounding the availability of LPG cylinders, particularly following disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel.

In a conversation with a news outlet, Gowda acknowledged that geopolitical factors have indeed exerted some pressure on supply chains. However, he reassured that the government has been transparent about the situation. He stated, 'There is no need to panic. While there may be a slight shortage, the opposition's claims that the government is not being clear are unfounded. The government is fully aware of the circumstances.'

Milind Deora, a Shiv Sena MP, echoed similar sentiments, advising the public to remain calm as the government is capable of ensuring alternative energy supplies. He remarked that there is no reason for the citizens to feel anxious, as the Indian government can procure natural gas from other sources. Deora criticized those attempting to create a climate of fear in the country, calling it unfortunate. Arun Bharti, an MP from the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), added that the central government has already assured Parliament that the situation is under control.

He further noted that the government, through its Petroleum Minister and the Essential Commodities Act, has guaranteed that it is keeping a close watch on the situation, ensuring that all available resources are accounted for to prevent any inconvenience to the public. He accused the opposition of trying to create a crisis. BJP MP K. Sudhakar stated that despite geopolitical tensions, India's energy security remains stable. He expressed confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, highlighting his experience in navigating challenges. Sudhakar reassured that India is unlikely to face an LPG shortage.
