Tribute to a Dedicated Leader

Ujjain, August 3 - Senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former Madhya Pradesh minister, Paras Chandra Jain, passed away on Monday at a private hospital in Indore. He was 77 years old, as confirmed by family sources.


According to reports, Jain was admitted to the hospital due to complaints of fluid accumulation in his lungs, where he ultimately breathed his last. Party officials noted that Jain served as a minister during three terms of the BJP government in the state starting from 2005, overseeing crucial departments such as school education, higher education, energy, forests, food and civil supplies, and consumer protection.


He held ministerial positions until 2018. Known for his passion for wrestling, Jain was affectionately called 'Paras Pehelwan' and was elected six times as the MLA from the Ujjain North constituency, representing the area in 1990, 1993, 2003, 2008, 2013, and 2018.


Despite his significant political career, Jain was often seen riding his scooter around Ujjain, meeting friends and enjoying tea and snacks with them. He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter. Reports indicate that his last rites will be conducted in Ujjain on Monday.


Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his condolences over Jain's passing. He took to the social media platform 'X' to share, 'I am saddened to hear about the demise of respected BJP leader, former minister, and ex-MLA of Ujjain North, Paras Chandra Jain. I pay my humble tribute to him.' He further prayed to Baba Mahakal to grant the departed soul a place at his feet and to provide strength to the grieving family to bear this immense loss.
