Former JPSC Chairman Interrogated Again Amid Examination Irregularities

Ongoing Investigation into JPSC Exam Irregularities

On Friday, L. Khiyangte, the former chairman of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), appeared for questioning for the third time before officials from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding alleged irregularities in the examinations conducted by the commission. An official confirmed that Khiyangte arrived at the CID office around 11 AM.

Previously, the CID had interrogated Khiyangte for approximately nine hours on Tuesday and around eight hours on Wednesday. He resigned from his position as JPSC chairman on July 22. The CID has also conducted searches at multiple locations, including his official residence, in connection with the alleged irregularities in the JPSC examinations.

Khiyangte stated on Monday that he voluntarily resigned to ensure a fair investigation into the matter. He was appointed as the JPSC chairman in February last year after retiring from the position of Chief Secretary of the state. So far, the CID has arrested 11 individuals in this case. Amid protests from the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the commission postponed the JPSC Combined Civil Services (Main) Examination, originally scheduled from July 25 to July 27, citing 'unavoidable circumstances.'

As part of its investigation, the CID arrested a candidate who had passed the preliminary examination of the 14th JPSC Combined Civil Services Examination on Thursday.
