Ranchi, May 13: Madhav Lal Singh, a former minister in Jharkhand and a respected political figure, passed away on Wednesday after a long illness. He died at 9:05 a.m. at Pulse Hospital in Bariatu, Ranchi, leaving a profound sense of loss among political and social circles in the state.

Reports indicate that Singh's health had worsened recently, prompting his transfer from Bokaro to Ranchi for more intensive medical treatment. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of a dedicated medical team, he could not recover.

A significant political presence from Bokaro, Singh was elected four times to represent the Gomia Assembly constituency, securing victories in 1985, 1990, 2000, and 2009. He was an outspoken advocate for regional issues and public welfare from the time of undivided Bihar through the establishment of Jharkhand.

Throughout his extensive political career, he served in both the Bihar and Jharkhand governments and held the position of Chairman of the Jharkhand State Religious Trust Board. He was approximately 75 years old at the time of his passing.

Jharkhand's Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, expressed his condolences via social media, stating, "The news of the passing of respected Shri Madhav Lal Singh, former MLA from Gomia and minister in both the undivided Bihar and Jharkhand governments, is deeply saddening. His contributions to public service and social life were significant. The loss of Madhav Babu is an irreparable blow to public life."

The Chief Minister also offered prayers for the peace of the departed soul and strength for the grieving family and supporters.

Recognized as a grassroots leader in Jharkhand, Singh was actively involved in various public movements, especially in the Gomia area. He was well-liked in rural communities and was seen as a straightforward, approachable, and honest leader.

Even while serving in ministerial roles, he maintained a reputation as a humble public servant. Many locals regarded him as more of a guardian than a typical politician.

In the wake of his death, supporters and admirers gathered at both the hospital and his home to pay their respects. Leaders from different political and social organizations also conveyed their condolences, marking his passing as a significant loss to the political fabric of Jharkhand.
