Media reports have suggested that former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, was among the passengers on Air India flight AI 171. This Boeing 787 Dreamliner took off from Ahmedabad at 1:38 PM on June 12, 2025, but tragically crashed shortly after in a residential area of Meghani Nagar. Initially, it was reported that Rupani was the 12th passenger on the flight, seated in 2D. However, it was later clarified that he was not on board during the incident.
