Gordon Rorke, a former Australian fast bowler who played in four Test matches, has died at the age of 87. Known for his impressive height and remarkable speed, Rorke was among the fastest bowlers in Australia during his era. His Test career took place entirely in 1959, featuring two matches in the Ashes series against England and two more during Australia's tour of India. He made a significant impact on his debut in Adelaide, where he claimed five wickets, helping Australia secure a nine-wicket victory and reclaim the Ashes.

Rorke's career was not without its controversies. His unique bowling technique, particularly the way he dragged his back foot and delivered the ball from behind the crease, attracted considerable attention. This unconventional style led to a review of the no-ball regulations, resulting in changes to the laws.

Sadly, Rorke's international career was cut short due to health issues. He contracted hepatitis while in India, and the lingering effects forced him to retire prematurely at just 25 years old. Throughout his first-class career with New South Wales, he took 88 wickets at an average of 24.60.

In his brief Test career, Rorke played four matches, taking 10 wickets with an impressive economy rate of 1.73. In first-class cricket, he participated in 36 matches, achieving 88 wickets with an outstanding economy of 2.26 and best bowling figures of 6 for 52.
