Foiled Terror Plot Targeting Khatu Shyam Temple Uncovered
Terror Threat to Khatu Shyam Temple
The revered Khatu Shyam Temple, known as a refuge for the defeated, has recently been identified as a target for terrorists. Intelligence reports indicate that adversaries from across the border had devised a plan to attack the temple. Information related to the temple had even reached Pakistan. However, before any attack could occur, local law enforcement, referred to as Yogi Force, apprehended a sleeper cell linked to the plot. This intervention potentially saved the lives of over 400,000 individuals.
The sleeper cell, led by an individual named Munir, was tasked with gathering intelligence on the Khatu Shyam Temple located in Rajasthan's Sikar district, as well as military installations across the country. Investigations revealed that these operatives had conducted reconnaissance missions at the temple multiple times, with police recovering numerous photos and videos of various temples from their mobile devices. It was discovered that the location, along with the footage, had already been transmitted to Pakistan, indicating a serious threat that was averted due to the vigilance of the Yogi Force.
Arrests and Investigations
Following the exposure of this sleeper cell, six individuals, including Sohail Malik alias Romeo and Sanekaram alias Mehak, were arrested and subsequently imprisoned. In the wake of these arrests, multiple agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Ghaziabad Crime Branch, and the Special Cell of Delhi Police, initiated a thorough investigation. It was revealed that the network's objectives included targeting military bases, military activities, and religious sites, with the intent to relay this information to handlers based in Pakistan. These operatives were reportedly receiving direct funding from Pakistan to betray their country.
Plans were in place to install CCTV cameras at military locations, including Delhi Cantt and Ambala, to monitor activities closely. The operatives were trained specifically to install these cameras and transmit the data back to their handlers.
Motives Behind Targeting Khatu Shyam Temple
Funding for these operations was reportedly funneled through hawala channels from Pakistan. The operatives were instructed to capture CCTV footage and were compensated for their efforts. A critical question arises: why was the Khatu Shyam Temple specifically targeted? Three primary reasons can be identified: first, the temple's security measures are perceived to be weaker compared to other major temples; second, the temple attracts millions of visitors daily; and third, its proximity to the Pakistan border, just 350 kilometers away.
In contrast, the security at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is significantly more robust, with constant surveillance managed by the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force and central forces. The temple is equipped with AI-enabled CCTV systems and bomb disposal units. However, the security arrangements at Khatu Shyam Temple appear to be lacking, especially given the large crowds it draws. The recent uncovering of a substantial espionage network in Ghaziabad has revealed that various sensitive materials were being sent to Pakistan through these operatives. As of now, over 29 individuals have been detained in connection with this case, and further investigations are ongoing.
