Market Overview of Precious Metals

Silver Prices Drop by ₹1,487
Silver futures for December expiry closed at ₹2,44,213 per kilogram in the previous trading session. However, with the market opening on Thursday, the price fell to ₹2,42,726 per kilogram, marking a decrease of ₹1,487 per kilogram in early trading.
Currently, silver is trading well below its record high of ₹4,20,048 per kilogram reached in January 2026, representing a decline of approximately ₹1.77 lakh per kilogram from its peak.
Current Gold Prices
In contrast to silver, gold for October expiry on the MCX saw an increase of around ₹200, reaching approximately ₹1,53,963 per 10 grams. This indicates a strengthening of gold prices amidst the decline in silver.
According to the IBJA rates in the domestic market, the price for 10 grams of 24-carat gold is reported at ₹1,53,486, while 1 kilogram of silver is priced at ₹2,35,249. It's important to note that GST and making charges may apply when purchasing jewelry.
