Flanders Fire Breaks Out
A major wildfire, referred to as the Flanders Fire, ignited on Saturday in Crow Wing County, leading to immediate evacuations and a comprehensive emergency response. The fire originated in the vicinity of the 16800 block of County Road 11 near Crosby and has swiftly expanded to cover around 100 acres. Evacuations and Road Closures
Evacuations have been mandated along Adney Lake Road, with officials advising residents to steer clear of the area and avoid County Road 11 to facilitate access for emergency services. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office has issued a stern warning: “A significant wildfire is currently raging in Northern Crow Wing County. Numerous local fire departments and emergency responders are engaged in efforts to control the fire. Please refrain from traveling on County Road 11 at this time and avoid the vicinity if possible.”
Injuries Reported
Several individuals, including firefighters, have sustained injuries. One male victim has suffered severe third-degree burns on his head, face, and hands, along with first- and second-degree burns on other parts of his body. Additional patients are receiving treatment on-site, and medical helicopters have been dispatched.

Strong winds are complicating containment efforts, and thick smoke can be seen from a significant distance, with residents as far away as Cross Lake and Pine River reporting heavy smoke and low-flying aircraft. Local businesses and community members have voiced their concerns, with one individual stating: “Fire Watch is serious everyone please be safe and thanks to our Men and Women trying to contain this fire.” Another resident added: “Prayers for the folks in Crosby Minnesota! This is happening right now everyone! Families are evacuating their homes as we speak! Fire and wind is a wicked combo!”
